This project is inspired by my research into plant related cultural pieces such as Mort Garson’s album ‘Mother Earths Plantasia’ (1976), created to aid in the healthy growth of plants. And cult classic horror-comedies ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ (1960 & 1986), and ‘Attack of the Killer Tomatoes’ (1978).

Becoming more and more aware of the issue surrounding sustainability in the fashion and textile industry, I felt it was important for me, as a young designer, to center my final year around this issue. I have designed samples using waste yarn and beads, as well as biodegradable paper yarns. The relevance of the cultural pieces I have taken inspiration from are to highlight this issue, and create a conversation and awareness around sustainability. Hopeful it will help people to consider buying into alternative sustainable products.
